Welcome to Reykjavik City

Reykjavik City

Reykjavik City is the capital of Iceland. The majority of the local population resides in the Reykjavik Capital area, almost two thirds of the nation. With a lively cultural scene, a broad selection of fine restaurants, the city offers something for everyone.

Information & Facts

Getting Around

Using the bus-system in Reykjavik is easy and will get you to all the different places you might want to reach. Hlemmur square is the old terminal station, but Lækjargata is more central and easily accessible. These two major hubs are connect by the Laugavegur shopping street.

Kids Attractions

The Laugardalslaug swimming pool is fun for kids at every age. Highly recommended.

Icelandic is the official language and spoken by all the locals. Most people speak English, and many believe they can speak a scandinavian language. Give it a try and see how it goes ;-)

Icelandic Krona is the official currency. Everyone accepts VISA/MasterCard, some accept American Express and then a few take other charge cards.

Negatives about Reykjavik depend on what you decide it is. The weather can be wet, but nothing a good set of protective clothes can manage.

Night Life

Yes, there is plenty of nightlife for everyone in Iceland.
